Huawei has made a deal with Vodafone to bring its first smartphone to Blighty.
The firm has been in the mobile market for a little while, but this is the first time it has aimed one of its smartphones at the UK.
Its first device is the Ascend G 300, which runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system underneath what Huawei called its "own unique Android platform".
The Huawei Ascend G 300 has a 4in capacative touchscreen, a 1GHz processor, a 1500mAh battery, a 5MP camera and 2GB of on-board memory.
It is smiles all round at both companies of course. "This is a landmark deal for Huawei. We are delighted to have Vodafone UK on board as a strategic partner as we continue to unveil a compelling range of world-class smartphones," said Huawei UK EVP Mark Mitchinson.
"We've collaborated successfully with Huawei for several years introducing a popular range of Vodafone branded devices to our customers," added Vodafone UK and Ireland director of Terminals Dee Kaul. "We believe that Huawei's innovation and design will make their handsets a compelling proposition for our customers."
The Ascend G 300 will be available from Vodafone UK in 'luxury silver' from this Spring. We do not expect to get pricing information until closer to the release.
